BAND

4th GRADE BAND

4th grade band is a fun and exciting activity for our Wolf Branch elementary school students. Third grade students begin selecting the instrument that they would like to play in April. Students can choose to play flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, or snare drum.

Band Camp is offered the summer prior to fourth grade for those student that would like to try out the instruments before the school year begins. Band Camp is $30 per class. Students can choose between flute class, clarinet class, alto saxophone class, trumpet class, trombone class, and snare drum class.

Students will be asked to list their 1st and second choice. Instrument selections must be made by July 31. A final list of instrument assignments will be sent to guardian emails prior to the beginning of the fourth grade school year.

CLASS BAND

Students are assigned a class band time. Class band is the time where students meet with "like" instruments. Flutes meet as a class, trumpets meet as a class, etc. During this time, students learn how to make proper sounds, learn how to read music. Most students enter fourth grade band with zero music reading skills.

15 MINUTE LESSONS
If you are pulled from specials or Social studies for lessons, your classwork will be monitored by your teacher.  It is very rare that band students have trouble keeping up in class during band lesson time.  However, if it does become a challenge in the classroom, your teacher will contact Mrs. Tessereau and your lesson time will be changed.

ALL STUDENTS TAKING 15 MINUTE LESSONS WILL NEED TO TURN IN A SIGNED PRACTICE CHART EACH WEEK WHEN THEY ARRIVE TO LESSONS.

If the practice chart is consistently not completed or not signed by a parent, the student will be dismissed from 15-minute lessons and band.  Students will also be dismissed if they are not attending their lessons regularly because they have forgotten their instrument or have forgotten to come to the band room. (Many students have had success setting an alarm on their watch and/or chromebook. If you choose this method, please be sure to show your kiddo how to turn off the alarm so it does not distract the class.) It is important to contact Mrs. Tessereau if you are absent from school or if you need to in class to complete a test or assignment. these are all EXCUSED absences and WILL NOT count against you.

ROCK BAND

Our Wolf Branch Rocks Bands are considered advanced ensembles in the Wolf Branch school district. The goal is to perform appropriate music from the students culture.

The instruments in the rock band may consist of any combination of the following instruments: Piano, Bass Guitar (or keyboard bass), Drum Set, Male/Female Vocalist. Some songs allow for alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, and/or trombone.

We may have multiple rock bands depending on the number of piano players and drummers we have during a specific school year.

5th, 6th, 7th and 8th GRADE BAND

During the school year, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade band will take place during W.I.N. every Monday and Friday throughout the school year.   All Middle School Band Students are expected to attend a 15 minute lesson that will occur during their encores, intervention, or P.E. These extra 15 minute lessons only occur once a week. A schedule is posted on the Middle School virtual classroom page.
