Math Team runs from the beginning of the school year until the end. Mrs. Carson is the math club sponsor.

Anyone in 6th-8th grades is welcome to join.

We meet at least once per week (usually on Mondays) to practice and do our competitions. Since many of our members also participate in sports and other school activities, I am flexible with attendance, as long as I am kept informed and the students come to as many practice meetings as possible and participate in the competitions.

We participate in the ICTM (Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics) Competitions. There are three competitions throughout the year that are grade-level and consist of an individual portion and team portion. We end the year with an Algebra competition, which is individual and everyone participates in. These are held in my classroom, and the results are sent to ICTM.

The 7th and 8th grade members participate in the Belleville East Feeder Competition, which also has an individual portion and two team portions. Our Math Team has placed 1st Overall in this competition, as well as taking top placings in the individual and team portions, for 2018, 2019, and 2020.

The Math Team hosts a booth at the Fall Festival inorder to raise money to pay for entry into our competitions. Since this is the only fundraiser that we currently have, every member is asked to participate in this event.
